Vida Winter is an author famous for her collection of stories, she has spend decades creating fictional biographies about herself, never wanting to reveal the truth about her past. Now old and sick she is ready to tell the truth. She requests that Margaret Lea be the one to write her story. As Margaret tries to absorb the whole story she is mesmerized, Vidas past is full of hope, ghosts, strangeness, and a fire that changes everything.
I liked this book very much, I enjoy the suspense that leads up to the ending. I wouldn't say the plot is very believable, but I guess there are people out there who are like Vida. It was interesting to read through the twists and turns that this book has, and I would recommend it to someone who likes gothic novels. The style is very similar to Kate Morton's books, If I didn't know I'd say it was the same author.
